Kerbing (extruded)

Kerbing is not a necessary addition to an asphalt area, unless vehicles will be driven over the edge of the asphalt regularly. However, many customers choose to add kerbing for a nicer finish.

We only use heavy duty extruded concrete kerbing, the same type you will see on the side of roads, rather than "garden" kerbing.

This type of kerbing is laid by a machine which extrudes wet concrete in the correct profile and then it is touched-up by hand to give a smooth finish. The advantages of extruded concrete kerbing are that curves can easily be laid; it gives a nicer, continuous apperance; and is very strong because it is laid in large continuous pieces.

Extruded Kerbing is available in several profiles:

Barrier Kerbing
150mm high with only slightly rounded edges, so more of a box shape than other profiles. This kerbing can either be laid on to the basecourse, or directly on to the asphalt. Barrier kerbing is pictured below:





Semi-mountable Kerbing
150mm high with a sloped top. This kerbing can either be laid on to the basecourse, or directly on to asphalt. Semi-mountable kerbing is pictured below:





Mountable Kerbing
Similar to semi-mountable but shorter. This kerbing can either be laid on to the basecourse, or directly on to asphalt. Mountable kerbing is pictured below:





Flush Kerbing
In-ground kerbing, the top of the kerbing is flush with the adjacent asphalt surface. Flush kerbing must be installed onto the basecourse BEFORE asphalt is laid (it is not possible to lay this kerbing after asphalt is laid). This kerbing is also sometimes called "Mountable Type M". Coloured kerbing

For a small additional charge, our kerbing can be coloured with an oxide added to the concrete mix. Colours include: cream (most popular), red, black.
